Brioche stitch is a warm, thick and loose stitch with a lot of give. What is viewed as a bit complicated stitch for needle knitters, the double-knit loom is ideal to create the Brioche stitch quite easily.
Stitched with two-colors or one, it creates a beautiful, loose rib that enhances any project.
For this example, we’ll use two colors: white and green.
Cast in eWrap using white yarn.
Next, UWrap with green yarn.
Hook over one side only.
UWrap with white yarn.
Hook over side with 3 loops, leaving other side alone.
UWrap with green yarn.
Hook over side with 3 loops, leaving other side alone.
Continue alternating colors and only hooking over the side with three loops until desired length.
View from one side and the other.
Solid Brioche.

When trying this stitch there is a bit of a confusion on the end pegs. There seems to be one peg that only gets 2 wraps on the 3 wrap side. It falls on one end of the loom one time and the other end of the loom on the next go round. Is this correct?

Hi Viki, yes, that is correct. I should have noted it in the pattern. Chris

Hi, I am trying to make this scarf but am getting confused with the edges! The first row on one side and the last row on the other side have both colours alternating. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

Hi Antoniella,
Viki noticed something I should have noted in the pattern: “There seems to be one peg that only gets 2 wraps on the 3 wrap side. It falls on one end of the loom one time and the other end of the loom on the next go round.” Does this help?

Hi, thanks for your reply. I have seen that comment and am doing the same but the first vertical row on the white side is coming up with one white stitch followed by a green one then another white and so on instead of all white like the rest of the rows. The same is happening on the green side at the other end of the loom.

Although it’s been awhile, here is the video that I learned the Brioche stitch from: Brioche Loom Knit Stitch. Hopefully, this will answer your question better than I have. 🙂
