When I saw this traditional knitted purl and knit heart afghan, I was inspired to create the same blocks using the double-knit loom.
Let’s use the heart color chart below as our pattern.

Using the chart above, create one block using Stockinette stitch for all white blocks and Purl stitch for all red blocks on one side only. Stockinette the back side. Once completed, bind off.
Now, create another block using Purl stitch for all white blocks and Stockinette stitch for all red blocks on one side only. Stockinette the back side. Once completed, bind off.
Now, I used some leftover yarn but you get the idea.
Once you make enough blocks for your afghan (lap blanket, baby blanket, whatever you like), you can mattress stitch the blocks together and voila! A pretty afghan with great texture.
